"My Wish" To My Daughter...

Today is March 28th.
What a very special day it is!!!

Jordan, my special little girl, turns 13 years old today.

A teenager!
The moment she has been waiting for.
Somehow it isn't the moment I have been waiting for:-)

But the day is here and Jordie is a beautiful 13 year old girl...
and though it may be cliche...
she is truly beautiful inside and out!

I have thought and thought about this blog post.
Sometimes I do a "things I love about you" type of post.
I could still do that.

I could still say that I love so many things about Jordie.

I love..
her sweet smile,

her freckles,
her long blonde hair,

her perfect little ears,

I love...
her faith in God,
that she loves animals,

that she is a good friend,
her sense of humor

I love...
her bright mind,

her creativity,

how she stands up for herself...
and for others
I love...
her love of children,

her love of family,
her love of football:-)
I love...
how much she loves her mommy:-)
her opinions
her advice.

But there is so much more I want to say.
I know this is getting long but I'm not sorry this time.
This is for my girl Jordie and she will read every word.

So...
One of Jordie's favorite songs is
"My Wish", by Rascall Flatts.
She loves this song and knows
every word.

I love it too.

When I first heard it I printed the words for
both of my girls.
I do that often:-)

The song that has been playing in the background is My Wish.
Here are the lyrics.
Jordie, if I could write a song for you,
this is what it would say...

"My Wish"

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

Jordie, This is also my wish to you on your 13th birthday.
I love you!!!

If I Could Be Made Into...

...anything or anyone else, who would it be?

Interesting, huh?

That's one of the questions Mama Kat asked us to write about in her writer's workshop.

Apparently there is a show on MTV about being "made" into the person you would most like to be similar to, complete with your very own life coach. I'm sure I didn't explain it well but you get the gist...

Hmmm...Martha Stewart came to mind immediately for her "good at everything" qualities...but it also came to the mind of my friend Trudy first, so I won't copy:-)

No problem though, becuase who I would really, really want to be made into would be
HRH Rachel Ashwell, the Queen of all things Shabby Chic!

I could go to flea markets all over the world, finding shabby treasures everywhere.

I could drag home my used and abused furniture.

Decorate with all of the white, pink, lace, ruffles and chippy painted furniture that I want.

My gifts would be something sweet, vintage and personal...
instead of from the mall.

I could lounge outside on sofas like this.

Or inside on one of these.

Come to think of it, Taylor's room looks something like this.
Maybe I'm on the right track after all.

Isn't this pretty...

By the way, this is from her new line...
And I think I HAVE to have it!
I know my sister Kathy will see this sooner or later.
YOU could do this:-)

And if my husband got tired of having all my "junque" around,
I could open a little store like this...

Did I mention I could have a bit of pink in the house:-)

So there you have it...
I would be "made" into Rachel Ashwell.
But only if I had to choose someone.
Because you see, I'm not unhappy with me...
just very much a fan of the Shabby Chic Queen!

In case you didn't know, Rachel has a blog.
I found most of the pretty pics there.
If you love this style
take a peek for yourself!

And in case you think I shouldn't have chosen Rachel, let me tell you that I seriously considered being my dog.
Yes...Seriously!

No, not Freddy with the "Frohawk".

Cute as he is, he does have a few issues.
Nothing bad...just can get a bit worked up at times.

I was actually thinking I could be Maui.
He's just a big, dumb, sweet, lovable dog.
Happy to play, run, sleep and eat...
and loves to cuddle.

Okay, so maybe I wouldn't want to bury my nose in the sand
every time we go to the beach.

Happy Thursday everyone!

White Ruffles...

Have I been M.I.A lately or what?

Life has just been very busy and I have to confess...
I was either too lazy to write or had ZERO inspiration...
meaning I couldn't think of a thing to talk about:-)

Not that things have changed all that much.

Maybe I have blog burnout.
Does that ever happen to you?

Anyway, I did find a tiny bit of inspiration yesterday,
perfect for Faded Charm's
White Wednesday!

I discovered a new little shop in town.

It's called Beach Custom and they do interior decorating and staging.

Have you ever walked into a store and loved EVERYTHING???

This little place was my dream.

I could live there.

Or at the very least I would like to live with everything I found there:-)

I saw some great things but didn't have much time so
I'll go back when I can really think about what I want.

I did see a mirrored armoire that was so reasonable and similar to this.

Love it!!

I bought one little thing and not even for me.

This sweet white ruffled laundry/tote bag is for for Taylor.

Perfect little home for her collection of pointe shoes, don't you think?
(At least I think it's for Taylor. I haven't actually given it to her yet so... hahaha)

The bag is from Pom Pom Interiors
and they also make this...

Tres chic...don't you think?

I'm thinking of redecorating my girls bathroom.

How perfect would this shower curtain be?

Speaking of white ruffles...
Aren't these lampshades so cute?

And I love, love, love these white linen pillows...

I think I saw these ruffled dishes at Home Goods awhile back.
At least I know they had the cake stands.
Home Goods, here I come!

Wonder if my husband would like these chair slipcovers.

I have some now but they're more tailored.
But THESE are the ones I really love.
A bit more romantic, you know?
Somehow I don't think he'll get it but then again,
I have been a very good wife this month:-)

Well, I could go on and on but my "to do" list is calling.
Please visit faded Charm to see the other White Wednesday blogs.

Au revoir

"Green" Wednesday...

Are you a big St. Patrick's Day person?

I'm not really, but growing up,
my kids loved it.
Must be the fun green beads, class parties, cute leprechauns... and our day of green food!

So let's take a stroll down green memory lane.

Every St. Patrick's Day was filled with yummy green things to eat...

Starting with green shamrock pancakes for breakfast with green milk.
Mmmmmmm.....

Lunch was green shamrock sandwiches, green grapes, green celery sticks
and a green cupcake treat.
(I used to buy green bread from the grocery store.

These days I can probably look in the pantry
and find some ready made green bread.
I wish I were kidding... :-)

Shamrock cookies were always sent in for the class...

I know, I know...sugar, sugar!
(Relax, it's a Holiday...
teeth don't fall out in one day:-)

And since I needed something green for the parent pick-up line...

what better than a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's!!!!
Even Mommy needs a treat once in awhile!

Dinner has always been roasted chicken with green mashed potatoes, peas, green jello and whatever else we could think of.

Bedtime snack...mint chip ice cream.
(okay...not for me. I aleady had my shake:-)
P.S. Mint chip ice cream makes GREAT milk shakes or blizzards!

If you feel ambitious, try these Shamrock Pops from
My Little Cupcake Blog.

And don't these look good?

Just whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough
and throw in some green m & m's.

Too much work?
Well, you can always serve one of my
favorite year-round
treats that work especially good for St. Patrick's Day...

Yep...

Good ol' Lucky Charms Cereal!!!

Mmmmm...makes me want a bowl right now.

Except I would probably open the box to find the marshmallows
have been eaten out of it.

They say what goes around comes around...

I was once the marshmallow thief...
and I have managed to raise 2 of my own to carry on the tradition:-)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
