Ouch!

I'm still here...
still resting, reflecting, nesting, thinking,
daydreaming
and all of the other things I said I needed to take time to do.

Love this...

I'm re-reading all of my Shabby Chic books...
and getting inspired all over again!

And I'm hanging out with my girls...
eating ice cream cones,
watching our favorite shows,
planning our summer,
planning bedroom re-dos
(and school, of course:-)

Just hanging out.
And it feels sooooo good.
Or it did.

Now for the "ouch" part...

Friday morning, I packed my shabby chicks in the car
and went to the beach.

Barefoot Beach...
How perfect is that?

We needed some bonding time.
A bit of Vitamin D.
And I have a new project that involves seashells so...

It was a gorgeous day...
I found the shells...
Read a little of my book...
Sipped some sweet tea...

...and got WHACKED in the face by a flying umbrella.

It was such a calm day.
A cloudless sky and no wind to speak of...
until the freaky gust of wind picked up that umbrella and...
well, you know.

I sat there stunned.
It hit me so hard and so suddenly.

As I sat with my face in my hands,
I felt something dripping on my legs.
My poor girls...
Nice day at the beach and suddenly Mom has a bloody face.

One CT scan and a few stitches later...
and I look marvelous.

Only one problem...
we had a Ball to go to on Saturday night.

It was the Heart Ball...and of course I had a red dress.
Well, technically it was called Sangria by the lovely people at Nordstrom.
If only it had been violet or blue...
to match my face:-)

Hey...it made for great dinner conversation.

So next time you decide to go to the beach.,
don't worry about the sharks...
or jellyfish...
or sand crabs.

Look out for those flying beach umbrellas!!!

What else...

I've missed my shabby little blog.

For those of you who don't know me well,
let me tell you one word that describes me...
flaky.

Or maybe easily bored.

Because I'm ready to start changing up my blog again.

I know, I know...that is sort of taboo if you don't want to lose people.

But it's kind of like only having one style your whole life.

Or saying your favorite color is blue just because it's always been that way.

Go ahead...say you like orange now or if you're like me...
PINK!!!!!

But I'm not sure what to do so please stay tuned.

In the meantime,

I am trying to visit my followers.

All 555 of them!

Isn't that amazing???

I am going to admit something really bad here.

I bet I haven't been in touch with 455 of them.

I tried to keep up but it just got away from me.

So before I come back to my blog full time,
I need to make time for these wonderful people.

I'll be seeing you...

Suzanne

  1. My goodness girl..WOW...I was at the beach today...but no umbrella hit me. Maybe because we didn't do any swimming..not here anyway in Ontario Canada,,and I'm definitely not no polar bear swimmers (people that go in the ice to swim,,like YUCK,,lol)...

Thanks so much for visiting me,,I see we are kindred spirits,,or was it flaky,,lol. Oh girl, I love your style of writing...

    blessings dear one...

I am so sorry too read that you got hit in the face. That pesky wind has a way of doing that with umbrellas.

  5. Ouch! So sorry! I hate the beach cause of being stung by a jellyfish as a kid - you never think to look out for a flying umbrella

  11. Suzanne, you are too sweet with your words. Thank you. From the looks of it you are being the best mom that you can be for your two beautiful young girls. Continue to rely on God for getting you through the teenage years because they are rough for young girls. I pray that God gives you the words to speak to them, and the actions that will show them your endless love.

Where is Florida are you located? I spent 8 weeks in Longboat Key, with the family I nannied with for a year and a half. Beauitiful beaches.;-)

  13. Good Morning Sweetie...
You have got to watch out for those darn umbrellas. They will get you every time. And for you, to the tune of a few stitches. Oh my goodness I bet you did scare the girls.

I am so happy you were still able to go to the ball and enjoy yourself. I bet you were the prettiest one there. I pray you are healing nicely sweetie. Love the new blog look. Just beautiful. Have a gorgeous week.

Country hugs and much love, Sherry

  16. Oh wow! That looks so painful! You still look beautiful!

I am just now stumbling onto your blog...I have to tell you that you and your little girls remind me so so much of myself and my little girls a few years ago! It is so much fun being a mommy to little girls (I am sure boys are fun too but I grew up with 4 brothers and they are more bratty than anything else for a sister! LOL!) Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy them before they grow up and leave home...mine just did a year ago! I miss the fun we had! They are still fun now but I don't see them nearly as much!

LOL! I am so sorry I am writing a book here on your space...sorry!

    Hugs, Carolyn ~ Cottage Sunshine
