My Kinda White Wednesday.......

i don't do a lot of blog hops/parties.

like many others, i prefer to post what i want, when i want.

maybe that's a cop out because i'm so disorganized and

unable to remember which day is what blog party.

probably that:)

but my all time favorite has been White Wednesday by

Faded Charm.

I went to post my white wednesday post today to find

 that Kathleen has decided to stop hosting this.

like me, she has many other things going

 and wants to post when it suits her best.

but i will miss this!

cause i just love all things white!

anyway, here is my white wednesday post.......

as you know, i love decorating with white.

but not just "white" white.

i mean white, ecru, cream, eggshell, champagne, marshmallow......

all shades.

i love throwing in a bit of wood.....

especially dark wood and faded/rustic wood.

and metallics........burnished golds and silvers.

i think the most important thing to do if using whites is to remember this:

TEXTURES!

layer different textures, whether wearing whites

or decorating with them.

contrary to what many think, white is not cold.......

used like this it's incredibly cozy.

we have a white Christmas tree and it couldn't be

warmer, cozier and just plain gorgeous.

and my husband made a very grave error Sunday

when he said he didn't care if we put our tree up........

already.

but it's so DOGGONE hot down here, i had to do this to feel nice and cool:)

.......notice the metallics, textures and various shades.

the only thing missing is a 

white hot cocoa

and lastly, here's a piece of advice i need to remember.........

and spring...who doesn't love spring, right?

i'm going to whip through the rest of the so called spring fashion trends,

which, now that i think about it,

is really QUITE laughable that I am blogging about fashion trends.

oh welllll:)

let's do this.

starting with those pretty girls in their white dresses.

WHITE is always big in spring and summer.

think about it.

white is crisp, clean, fresh, youthful, innocent...

so it's a really GOOD thing white dresses are a hot pick for spring.

because we all want to be fresh, youthful or innocent...and hopefully clean:)

and if you add a pop of lace, even better!

and not just white dresses...

but all-white outfits are "IN"...

if you take my word for it!

and trust me, it's okay if you don't:)

here are a few other ways to add some white...

so there you go...white for spring.

PRETTY!

to wrap this up, they also say 

POLKA DOTS.

maybe like this...

this next one is my favorite way to wear polka dots...

and floral patterns...

which i personally think one has to be VERY careful here

 to keep it current:)

maybe just a pretty floral bag...

also, PEPLUMS are getting popular this year, so THEY say:)

i think they're great for hiding a tummy pooch...

if they are not too weird.

then they add to a tummy.

just saying...

i like the subtle simplicity of this one...

which brings me to the next trend...black and white.

)since when is this NOT a trend, right?:)

rather than a graphic pattern, i like clothes simple and a louder accessory...

well, there you have it...

everything you i mean WE need to be 

stylish this spring!

oh wait...i forgot to add my suggestions for the London theme,

(cause of the summer olympics)

and the WINNER is...

WHEW!!!!!

remind me to never play FASHIONISTA again!

it's exhausting.

give me my jeans.

and flip flops.

and tank top.

there...i'm all set.

A Dreamy, Creamy Good Life...

today I am joining in on White Wednesday at Faded Charm

and Good Life Wednesday at A Beach Cottage,

which explains the title of this blog post:)

basically, I have a few pics of things that are some of my favorite

things for decorating

 (and they just HAPPEN to be cream and white!)

because they are favorites, they are part of the "good life" for me.

 Subway Art~I LOVE subway art.  but the next piece I get I would like
to be white-washed based, like this one.
Stenciled Pillows~LOVE these too!  especially with french words, numbers, quotes
or CROWNS:)

 

 Painted Vintage Luggage~I have 3 pieces painted and one to go...

and I look for them everywhere.

sigh...the good life:)

Mirrored Armoires and Mother of Pearl-ish handled silverware:)

two things I have always wanted...someday.

Twinkle Lights!!!!! 

everything looks better with a string of twinkle lights.

I have them in both girls bedrooms, the family room, in a large glass

cylinder of flowers, strung around the pool area and on the front porch.  

we LOVE twinkle lights..like these!

 now come on... would you EVER leave this bed?
i wouldn't:)
and how about this little trick... stringing them with a garland of doily hearts...
so PRETTY!

and since it's SOOOOOOO hot down here,

a white Christmas is sounding pretty good.

just looking at this photo cools me off...

now THAT would be a good life for me right now:)

and speaking of the Holidays,

it feels good to KNOW I am going with a white theme again this year...

so I think I'll just have to make this sweet little wreath,

made from a foam base with pearls glued on it.

one more thing...

CROWNS make every day a royal one:)

little white bench...

hey...

guess what i did yesterday?

i tackled my very own re-do project instead of lurking around

BLOGLAND, peeking at everyone else's.

my favorite little store in Naples,

VINTAGE CHARM

(love that name)

carries Taylor's Tutus and a few other goodies we make,

like glittered shells, teacup candles, sweater pumpkins...

her shop is little so when i kept eyeing this sweet little bench,

the owner finally took pity on me and said

"take it...it's just getting in the way".  

hmmm...tutu's for a bench,

not bud, huh?

so, i got it home and the color of the fabric cushion was NOT right for me.

it was a gold color that would have probably worked
but i'm big into the cream and whites so...

 i ripped it up, recovered it and

VOILA...

 a perfect little sitting area with my new shabby white bench,

paris pillows, cute signs, my most FAVORITE vintage find...

a gumball machine...

and my AWESOME...GORGEOUS

vintage luggage.  

two of the pieces were done but I had to paint one more to complete the look.

got old luggage around the house?

grab some spray paint and be prepared to go CRAZY:)

and don't ever pass them by at the fleas.

they make great storage...

ours hold Miss T's MANY  worn and tattered

POINTE SHOES.

this little nook cost me about $20 because I had everything
except the fabric, spray paint and one pillow for $7 at Joann's.
use what you have, right?
even worn out shoes:)

and last but not least, my "subway art".

i am IN LOVE with subway art!!!!!

 maybe one day i'll make my own...

there are some great tutorials out there...

but for now, i cheated and found a few at Home Goods

 and because they were at Home Goods...you KNOW the price was right!!!

love that store:)

next project...MERMAIDS!

yep...found these cuties at Tj Maxx.
i'm just deciding whether i want to embellish them with pearly vintage BUTTONS
or vintage jewels.
i'm thinking tiny JEWELS...
you know, mermaids...treasures...
we'll see!

oh gosh...one more thing i LOVE today...
this COOL frame i found in Sarasota, Fl
while shopping at St. Armand's Circle with my Mum, Sis and
my two SHABBY CHICKS.

that's it...short and SWEET today!

White on White on White...

I was SO excited to get my new copy of Ballard Designs catalog.

the theme for this catalog...decorating with all shades white.

cream, ivory, white, vanilla...

BLANC.

(french for "white"...you know:)

I am IN LOVE with the color I painted my walls.

not strictly white but latte white.

COCONUT latte white!

It's so warm with my cherry wood floors and all white furniture.

makes me HAPPY!

so...since I don't want to be happy by myself,

I have a few pics and a book to share with you.

and I know what some say...

white is boring,

bland,

uninteresting.

NOT!!!

 according to this book...

"White is the color for all seasons, and it never goes out of style. see for yourself...but to me, creams and whites together ARE interesting in a subtle way.

very serene (I need serenity)

simple.

comfy and cozy.

creamy.

DREAMY!

good for any time of year,

any Holiday,

any reason

any room.

tomorrow I'll show you what accent color I am adding to my creamy whites for spring/summer.

I know what you're thinking...pink.

nope!

I love it...and will have a few touches...

but not pink.
