a HAPPY little village...

so my "word" for 2011 is HAPPY.
i'm trying, i'm trying:)
some days are happier than others, right?
but the other day, when this little village popped up
on my computer screen...
it brought a SMILE to my face.
a HAPPY smile:)
so I thought I'd share it with you...
aren't these adorable?
they're a VILLAGE of soft cottage ornaments,
made by a lady named Kajsa in Finland (Syko shop) who just LOVES to sew.
well Kajsa...you made me HAPPY today with your sewing so thank you!

and here are a few other things available in Syko's etsy shop...
anyway, not being able to sew myself, i thought you'd like to see
what can be done with a few scraps of fabric and an
IMAGINATION:)
XOXOXO

Memory Lane...Favorite Clothes

I love faded blue jeans, especially if they are soft, even ripped-out, frayed denim. To me, this is my perfect outfit and on most days, you will find me wearing a pair with a tank top and cute (hopefully) flip-flops. Add a few patches and look what you have...

But my all-time favorite was inherited from my sister, Debbie. They were a pair of denim bib-overalls that I must have worn when I was about 12 or 13. She had hand-embroidered stuff all over them and they were SOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!! Finally, a hand-me-down I couldn't wait to get my hands on. I can't believe we didn't keep them. My girls would love them...I think:-) Anyway, I just had the great idea to embroider a pair of their ripped, faded jeans. Our very own pair of "sisterhood of the traveling pants":-) How about you...what is your all-time favorite outfit? A prom dress, first bikini, school jersey???

(P.S. This is not me in the jeans...I wish!!!!!)

Good News/Bad News

Good news: I really did get out my sewing machine
Bad news: While searching for my sewing kit and scrap fabric, I found 3 chocolate marshmallow santas..and ate them all, blowing my diet one more time!
Good news: The owners manual told me what all of the parts were and they were all nicely labeled.
Bad news: It would be nice if the owners manual told me immediately how to get the packet out from under the feeder.
Good news: I have a 14 year old daughter who has had a little experience with a sewing machine
Bad news: Should we have to lay the machine down on its side just to thread it?
Good news: Taylor figured out how to thread the machine. Can there be anything harder than threading a bobbin for the first time??? I never thought of myself as dumb but if you saw me with this thing...LOL
Really good news: I actually sewed some stitches!
Now I need a REALLY SIMPLE project. Ideas, anyone???
