My Kinda White Wednesday.......

i don't do a lot of blog hops/parties.
like many others, i prefer to post what i want, when i want.
maybe that's a cop out because i'm so disorganized and
unable to remember which day is what blog party.
probably that:)

but my all time favorite has been White Wednesday by
I went to post my white wednesday post today to find
that Kathleen has decided to stop hosting this.
like me, she has many other things going
and wants to post when it suits her best.
but i will miss this!
cause i just love all things white!

anyway, here is my white wednesday post.......
as you know, i love decorating with white.
but not just "white" white.
i mean white, ecru, cream, eggshell, champagne, marshmallow......
all shades.
i love throwing in a bit of wood.....
especially dark wood and faded/rustic wood.
and metallics........burnished golds and silvers.

i think the most important thing to do if using whites is to remember this:
TEXTURES!
layer different textures, whether wearing whites
or decorating with them.
contrary to what many think, white is not cold.......
used like this it's incredibly cozy.

we have a white Christmas tree and it couldn't be
warmer, cozier and just plain gorgeous.
and my husband made a very grave error Sunday
when he said he didn't care if we put our tree up........
already.
Phil......consider it done!
heeheehee

here is a little collage of some whites.
sorry for the winter scenes,
but it's so DOGGONE hot down here, i had to do this to feel nice and cool:)

.......notice the metallics, textures and various shades.
the only thing missing is a
white hot cocoa

and lastly, here's a piece of advice i need to remember.........
hope you liked my whites!

on a weekend i shouldn't have been lazy, i was
BEYOND lazy.

that i don't sleep well AT ALL, you'll understand when i say it got
the better of me and i napped and slept in the whole weekend.
now...i did manage to sneak in some time at the beach
since it was so gorgeous...
but i completely checked out otherwise and didn't even do the iPhone cover drawing.
i am SOOOO sorry!

anyway, Tammy...if you would pop on over to visit Krista at JOYHEY,
pick out the iPhone cover you can't live without,
come back and tell me,
i'll order it for you asap and have it shipped directly to you
if that is okay.
otherwise it can come to me and i ship it.
either way, i need your mailing address so if you would send it to me
at shabbychicks@gmail.com once you've decided, we can get it ordered.
(i did not include every single amazing cover on my blog so
you might see another on her site that you like best)
the two most popular choices from those who commented
were the pink flowers and the vintage VW bug shown here.
as for me, i still can't make up my mind, even with all that help.
maybe i need to choose by a random drawing for my cover, too:)

by the way, i've only just "met" Tammy but oh my gosh,
she is like my other half.
just reading her "about me" is like reading about myself.
i think she has the same interests, tastes, lives in Florida.....
i am just so excited to meet her and you will be too.
her blog is so PRETTY...
just look at the photo i swiped off of it.
now is that welcoming and refreshing, or what?
i have a pink and a purple chair like this down by my pool,
so when i saw this photo on her blog,
it was just one more sign...we think alike!:)

i would like to thank every single one of the sweet ladies
who took the time to visit my giveaway/blog
and left me a lovely comment.

i wish i would win the lottery...
then i would surprise each of you with a pretty new phone cover.
but since that windfall hasn't come in,
i'll just say THANK YOU
from the bottoms of my
heart!
hope your Monday is a great start to a
WONDERFUL week!

"girls in WHITE dresses with"...

..."blue satin sashes;
snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes;
silver white winters that melt into spring...
these are a few of my favorite things."

i love that song!
and spring...who doesn't love spring, right?
i'm going to whip through the rest of the so called spring fashion trends,
which, now that i think about it,
is really QUITE laughable that I am blogging about fashion trends.
oh welllll:)
let's do this.
starting with those pretty girls in their white dresses.

WHITE is always big in spring and summer.
think about it.
white is crisp, clean, fresh, youthful, innocent...
so it's a really GOOD thing white dresses are a hot pick for spring.
because we all want to be fresh, youthful or innocent...and hopefully clean:)
and if you add a pop of lace, even better!

and not just white dresses...
but all-white outfits are "IN"...
if you take my word for it!
and trust me, it's okay if you don't:)
here are a few other ways to add some white...
so there you go...white for spring.
PRETTY!

to wrap this up, they also say
POLKA DOTS.
maybe like this...

this next one is my favorite way to wear polka dots...

and floral patterns...
which i personally think one has to be VERY careful here
 to keep it current:)

maybe just a pretty floral bag...

also, PEPLUMS are getting popular this year, so THEY say:)
i think they're great for hiding a tummy pooch...
if they are not too weird.
then they add to a tummy.
just saying...
i like the subtle simplicity of this one...

which brings me to the next trend...black and white.
)since when is this NOT a trend, right?:)
rather than a graphic pattern, i like clothes simple and a louder accessory...

well, there you have it...
everything you i mean WE need to be
stylish this spring!

oh wait...i forgot to add my suggestions for the London theme,
(cause of the summer olympics)

and the WINNER is...

WHEW!!!!!
remind me to never play FASHIONISTA again!
it's exhausting.
give me my jeans.
and flip flops.
and tank top.
there...i'm all set.
XOXOXOXO

eye candy...

definition:   something that is INCREDIBLY pleasing to the eye.
something you just can't stop staring at.

now, i THINK the term "eye candy" came about to describe a VERY
attractive person...girl OR guy.
so for those of you who want THAT kind of eye candy,
i give you Mr. Phantom of the Opera himself...
Gerard Butler.

i know...SERIOUS eye candy:)

actually, i have a board on pinterest that is just for eye candy...
STUFF that is so amazing, so beautiful, I don't know where else to file it.
my vintage glam, shabby chic, dreamy creams and whites and stuff i love boards have
lots of eye candy too:)
so i thought i'd share some of my favorite eye candy with you.

okay, okay...i'll settle for another puppy:)
talk about adorable eye candy!

shades of shabby chic...perfectly shabby eye candy:)

holy guacamole...cool cake pops!

okay...look closely at these.
can you BELIEVE they are made from watercolor paint and coffee filters?????
EYE CANDY!

STUNNING!

 vintage jewelry

pretty and pastel...for spring!

LOVE the pillows!

more cake...
can you call this cake?  or are these works of art?
one thing for sure...they are EYE CANDY!!

and one of my favorite eye candy photos...of course...
those cheeks!:)

personally, i think even food is eye candy sometimes.
TOO MANY times:)
white chocolate lemon truffles.

White Chocolate Lemon Truffles

  • 1 cup white chocolate
  • 5 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 3 Tbsp. heavy cream
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • icing sugar, for dusting
  1. Melt chocolate, butter and cream over a double boiler or in a microwave. Stir until smooth.
  2. Stir in salt and extract. Allow to cool slightly before covering with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm enough to handle.
  3. With a melon baller or small spoon scoop out mixture and form into 1 inch balls. Toss with icing sugar to coat.
  4. Store covered in the fridge for up to one week. Freeze for longer storage.
Makes: 24
* Using unsalted butter allows you to control the salty flavour of these truffles. The pinch of salt helps to cut through the sweetness of the white chocolate. If you decide to use salted butter make sure to omit the pinch of salt called for in the recipe or they will be far too salty.
* If you want to amp up the yellow color, stir in some yellow food coloring along with the extract and salt.

lastly, if you notice, i have a new "print this" button at the bottom of my posts.
just trying to make life easy for ya:)
