a lil' pink and shabby. . . . .

hello chickies!
it's been awhile since i had a pink post here on shabbychicks.
and since i believe you can't have pink
 without having shabby,
let's get our shabby pink on!
oh wait. . . . .
first i need to remind you about the
Origami Owl Giveaway ending tomorrow.

 seriously. . . .i don't like to call people crazy,
but you are if you miss out on this:)
xoxo

NOW it's time for some
shabby and pink stuff that caught my eye recently. . . .

oh.my. goodness. GRACIOUS!
look at this gorgeous pink ruffle duvet and drapes. . . .
with bows, at that!
i wish i knew where exactly they can be found,
but i think it is on etsy.

i just love the vintage jewels on this frame. . . .

 this next photo is a dream for any pink lover out there.
so pretty, shabby and sweet.
someone really special and girly must live here, right?
guess who's house this is????
i'll give you a few clues. . . .
~she can be kinda loud.
~she was on Cheers
~she danced with Max on Dancing with the Stars
~well, she did her best to try and dance:)

figure it out yet?

this house belongs to
Kirstie Alley!

i am NOT kidding!
this is her vacation home in Maine.

don't you love it?
i don't know why this just tickles me.
probably because it's so delicate looking.
i don't know.
but Kirstie?
of Kirstie and Max?
hahaha
it just makes my day:)

moving on. . . . .
i'm sure there's a bit of photo editing going on here,
but no matter.
the effect is stunning!
looks like a cotton candy tree:)

i leave you with this. . . . .

be blessed,
Suzanne

from shabby to rustic. . . gorgeous bedrooms to drool over!

oh. my. gosh!
don't you love looking at pictures of
 beautiful bedrooms?
makes me want to jump right in the picture and
 plop myself on the bed
with a good book and a mug of cocoa:)
i found a few awesome rooms
and while i should just let the pictures speak for themselves,
i think i might have to ramble about my
favorite things in the room.
sorry:)
first up. . . .get ready to
d
r
o
o
l
!

 do you love it?
this one is the room i might most be able to duplicate.
here's what i love about it:
1.  THE MATCHING DOG BEDS!!!!
oh my goodness. . .those are too cute:)
i need them!
(for real:)
2.  the white shabby chic furniture.
mine looks similar but is dark wood.
(i see a painting project in my future:)
3.  love the walls (mine are chocolate too)
and the dark hardwood floors
basically, i love it all:)

oh. heck.
check this out. . . .
 this room must be a display in a store,
cause it's a bit jam packed. . . .
but with amazing things!
i love:
1.  the number boxes
2.  the color/decor scheme of rustic chic.
3.  the art work...don't you love it?
4.  the chandeliers
5.  the pillows (especially the burlap ones)
6.  the touches of paris
7.  and everything else:)

makes you want to say. . . .

here's another rustic, chic, romantic beauty of a room!

love the. . . .
 1.  beams (although i'd probably wack my head:)
2.  the canopy
3.  the chest
4.  the white bedding
5.  the stone wall

i always wanted an attic bedroom. . . .
and looking at this, i still do!

1.  love the color scheme (again)
2.  the stenciling on one ceiling
3.  the windows/window treatment and beams

how about a room fit for a princess. . . .

hmmm. . . .what's not to love, right?

this next room isn't a bedroom
but i had to share.
it's small, but cozy.
and goes to show you can have a lovely white room. . .
and make it cozy with shabby chic sofas,
lots of pillows and quilts.
love. it.

okay, can i show you one more thing?
i love, love, LOVE this white bathroom with
pink accents!

i bet i could put my make up on much better in this room:)
how about you?

see any rooms you like?
is there a room makeover in your future?
tell us about it so we can drool about your new room, too:)

i'm just crazy about mirrored furniture............

it seems as if mirrored furniture is all over the place these days.
and i LOVE it!
personally, i wouldn't want a whole room or anything.
but maybe some bedside stands,
a gorgeous armoire
or a pretty vanity might be just the ticket to get that
"Vintage/Glam" look.
(that's what i choose to call it.  others call it
that "old hollywood" style.)
whichever you choose, it can be SOOOOOO pretty.
here are some of my favorites.

a shabby chic/vintage/glam armoire.....

this one is truly RUSTIC CHIC.....and it's beautiful!

lovely little mirrored bedside stand......

not sure if this is an armoire or large mirror.....but i love it:)

now this says "old hollywood" to me.......

 this too......

 there area even mirrored beds.......
 very vintage, very glam!

 mirrored sink/vanity..........

a GORGEOUS mirrored dining room table.......

and this vanity/desk looks like it gets a lot of action:)

and this mirror......
i swear it would talk to me every morning if i had it.
venetian glass is STUNNING!
(i KNEW it would give me messages:)

how about you?
like the mirrored furniture you see out there?
well, i hope you have a
 beautiful,
shabby chic
vintage
glam
rustic
old hollywood
kinda day!

(P.S........i've noticed some VERY reasonable
mirrored pieces at Pier 1)

lessons in decorating from a country girl/surfer girl/cowgirl....

a new year...
time to take a look around the old house and see what others see.
i've always wondered if a stranger could walk in our home and
learn who we were....what we like....stuff like that.
i think they could.
but nothing like when you walk into my 14 year old's bedroom!
now she REALLY knows how to bring her
personality into a room.
see for yourself...
come on in and meet my
Country Girl/Surfer Girl/Cowgirl!

first of all, her room is painted mermaid blue/green.
and all mermaids are welcome:)

this is the first thing you see when you walk in...
her MUCH LOVED surfboard,  guitar, cowboy hat and
FAVORITE new sign from the Junk Gypsies...
Cowgirls are Forever.

take a closer look at the guitar case and you'll find out she is also a
huge Florida Gator fan, loves to watch Swamp People (me and Taylor like it too:)
and also, like her mama...LOVES the Junk Gypsies!

moving on...
she has a little VINTAGE vanity/writing desk where she does school,
while looking at her art gallery wall and especially at her favorite
country singer, Luke Bryan:)
every good beach lover/surfer girl has this poster, right?:)

next up, her own little pinboard...
with everything from tickets to her sister's ballet performances,
to a painting she bought in Paris.
to a photo card of her grandparents.
in the corner of her room sits a VERY important part of her life...
her tennis gear!

okay, so she doesn't have a huge room.
but she managed to get her dream bed in it...
a cream iron bed with twinkle lights on it...
and the coziest BOHO comforter from Anthropology!

by the bed, a lamp from World Market that she picked out,
as well as her iphone and a little statue of Jesus
that she bought with her very own
dollar at the dollar tree when she was 4!
so what do we learn there...she is a young lady of FAITH...
and likes a variety of styles...
from vintage to shabby chic to surfer style to boho.
even her bed pillows say something...
that she loves dogs and
that she is still only 14 and not afraid to show that part of her childhood.

just a few more things that tell you a bit about my girl....
she's not afraid to show what she believes.

she LOVES anything Union Jack...

 she loves inspirational quotes...
 and last but not least...
she'll always be my little girl:)
so there you have it...a lesson in decorating from a 14 year old girl.
she shows that it isn't about walking into a furniture store
and buying what they put together...
but putting together your OWN style from the things you love.
and then when someone walks in they look around and like i do, they say
a really COOL person lives here!
 someone who knows what they like and isn't afraid to show it!
if only we all could decorate like that.
but HEY...it is a new year...
so give it a try:)
XOXOXOXOXO

Sanity Projects...

Yes...sanity projects...
as in "if I don't stay busy this month, I'll go crazy."

The only problem is that in my rush to do something,
I forgot to take "before" pictures:-)

Can't think of everything, right?

Okay, the first sanity project was actually done at the end of Feb.
but since I haven't shown it yet, here you go...

Jordie had a loft/bunk bed...very cool...but she was ready for a regular bed.

Thanks to Google, she found exactly what she wanted...
and the price was sooooo right!!!

Only problem...it was black...
and she wanted cream.

So once again, we open the box to a brand new bed...
and paint it before it ever gets in the house.

Will I ever learn?
Nah...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sanity Project #2...
if I have to stay in this house...
(and don't get me wrong, it's a nice house)
then I have to somehow bring it around
to the shabby,flea marketish, white look that I love.
First step...my verandah/balcony.
The furniture was brown with turquoise cushions
but thanks to paint (and plenty of help from Miss J)
it is now antique white.
I had a chest that I painted aqua and it is now the coffee table.
A few new cushions and voila...
As my handy assistant said while painting...
"Mom...I'll always remember doing projects like this with you.
Some people would go buy new furniture but we repaint furniture that we love
and it's just like new"
That's my girl!
Someday her husband will thank me for making her so thrifty...
I think.
Unless he's like mine and wants to know why we always
have projects going on and I can't park my car in the garage.
He just doesn't get it!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Project #3
I was at a thrift store recently and found a great oval frame
with a tacky poster-like print in it.

The frame was brown-ish...
if that's what you call it.

Basically it was UGLY.
But it was dirt cheap.

So I bought it...
Removed the print.
Painted it cream.
Stapled a piece of screen to the back.
And Taylor now has a new jewelry holder!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Project #4...
Spring Tutu's.
We needed to add a few to our shop...
they turned out pretty cute, at least we think so:-)
And they do add to the decor, don't you think?
But more on these pretties tomorrow!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm hoping to find some "me" time today.
A few moments to relax and read one of my favorite magazines.

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Flea Market Finds!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last but not least,
my sweet Maui,
or as we now call him "Sneezy".
would like to thank you
for your kind words and advice on his sneezing problem.
He sems a little better during the day and last night
was almost his same mischeivous self...
but he's not eating much...
and believe me, this guy can eat...
so we are off to the vet today!
Hope your Friday is wonderful!
See you tomorrow for Pink Saturday!
