Looking for a baby crib...

...GOTCHA!
No, this isn't some cute~crazy way to say that this
lady is having a baby:)
Although, up until a few years ago I would have JUMPED at the chance,
even if it meant I might be the oldest new mom in history!

BUT...
I AM looking for a baby crib.
When you see these photos, you'll understand.
(You would also understand if I told you my husband bought me a little shack
and told me to go live there and decorate it to my heart's content:)

It's because he knows I have leanings like this...
the kind that push things just a tiny bit too far but to me are SO amazing!
Where would I put this?
Don't know...but I'd sure be willing to try and find a place:)
I'm learning from my scavenging that these old metal cribs are snatched up as quickly as
someone puts them out...sometimes by people like me and sometimes
by shop owners who need a display OR simply a conversation piece.
See for yourself what I'm talking about...

Okay, so maybe I won't be getting a crib anytime soon...but I AM looking for a daybed.
The girls bedrooms are a bit on the small side and Taylor,
in her all white bedroom, is thinking she would rather have a daybed with loads of pillows
and a comfy, pretty chair to read or do school in, as well as her antique vanity.
But that was yesterday...
today may be a different story.
We've been checking a few out...they would be painted, of course...and on sale would be a plus:)
Not quite as "cutesy"...she IS 16 now, you know:)
Lots of white, some pink...
(even 16 year old girls have taste...shabby chic taste, of course!)
VERRRYY comfy, cozy and "smushy" as Ms. Rachel Ashwell would say!

very cozy...maybe  we DO need a daybed...
after all, if she got tired of it, Maui would LOVE it!

Hope you have a wonderful day and please stop by Faded Charm

for more White Wednesday posts!

Sometimes they know best...

...I'm talking about 15 year olds.
As in 15 year old girls.
No, I'm not crazy.
Because we're talking about decorating here and not dating.
That's for another post on another day!
(thank goodness:-)

By the way, I missed signing up for White Wednesday
but we're going white today anyway.

So, Taylor asks for a room makeover.
A WHITE room makeover.
My pink girl.

Nooooooooo...

I knew what she was picturing.
And you KNOW I love shabby and white.
But her room???

Well, this sweet girl...
who is no longer a small child...

but a young woman who knows what she wants...
wanted a white bedroom.

I think Jordie and I lost sleep the night before...
but not Taylor.
No pink room???
In my house???
Say it isn't so...

But Taylor was positive,
so off to the paint store we go.

I tried to sell the idea of soft white, off-white, linen white, fluffy white...you name it.
But no...we got PURE WHITE.
As in white base color.
Yikes!!!!!

Her bed is cream but her idea was to go white on the walls,
cream and white furnishings,
white bedding,
lots of shells and beachy stuff...
with bits of pink (as in pointe shoes)
and seaglass green thrown in...
And glam it up with bits of silver or gold glitter/glass.

I was so worried.
Worried it would be too bright.
Too white.
Too boring.

I was WRONG!!!!!
It is amazing!!!

We still don't have much on the walls
as she is trying to go about it slowly
and only put up what she really wants.

People always tell me that Taylor smiles a lot.
So when I saw a sign that read "smile", I knew she had to have it.
The first thing to go on the wall
is a seashell SMILE sign she embellished.

The new white room is so pretty and bright...in a good way.
Not glaring or anything like that.
It's HAPPY.
And looks BIG!
It's so CLEAN.
And cozy...yep, COZY!
And COMFY!
We decided to add lots of different textures with the bedding.
Lace, ruffles, chenille, pom poms, tulle...
Maybe that's why it is so sweet and cozy.

This pillow is to die for!
And do you see the lace ruffle pillow on the stool above?
The sheets and pillow cases all have that extra large ruffle.
I found the bedding line at Belk's...ON SALE!!!:-)
The line is Mary Jane's Farm and it is so pretty.

The ballerina is still in the room though...
Is this the cutest EVER jewelry holder?
Even the center of the flower has a vintage earring in it.

So tell me you wouldn't love to crawl in this bed...

(at least there's still room for the sweet blue Teddy named...
Teddy. Her intitals are T.E.D:-)

She knew what she wanted...

and she LOVES it!
Sometimes they DO know best:-)

Sanity Projects...

Yes...sanity projects...
as in "if I don't stay busy this month, I'll go crazy."

The only problem is that in my rush to do something,
I forgot to take "before" pictures:-)

Can't think of everything, right?

Okay, the first sanity project was actually done at the end of Feb.
but since I haven't shown it yet, here you go...

Jordie had a loft/bunk bed...very cool...but she was ready for a regular bed.

Thanks to Google, she found exactly what she wanted...
and the price was sooooo right!!!

Only problem...it was black...
and she wanted cream.

So once again, we open the box to a brand new bed...
and paint it before it ever gets in the house.

Will I ever learn?
Nah...

Sanity Project #2...
if I have to stay in this house...
(and don't get me wrong, it's a nice house)
then I have to somehow bring it around
to the shabby,flea marketish, white look that I love.

First step...my verandah/balcony.
The furniture was brown with turquoise cushions
but thanks to paint (and plenty of help from Miss J)
it is now antique white.

I had a chest that I painted aqua and it is now the coffee table.
A few new cushions and voila...

As my handy assistant said while painting...
"Mom...I'll always remember doing projects like this with you.
Some people would go buy new furniture but we repaint furniture that we love
and it's just like new"

That's my girl!
Someday her husband will thank me for making her so thrifty...
I think.

Unless he's like mine and wants to know why we always
have projects going on and I can't park my car in the garage.
He just doesn't get it!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Project #3
I was at a thrift store recently and found a great oval frame
with a tacky poster-like print in it.
The frame was brown-ish...
if that's what you call it.
Basically it was UGLY.
But it was dirt cheap.
So I bought it...
Removed the print.
Painted it cream.
Stapled a piece of screen to the back.
And Taylor now has a new jewelry holder!!!
Project #4...
Spring Tutu's.
We needed to add a few to our shop...
they turned out pretty cute, at least we think so:-)
And they do add to the decor, don't you think?
But more on these pretties tomorrow!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm hoping to find some "me" time today.
A few moments to relax and read one of my favorite magazines.

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Flea Market Finds!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last but not least,
my sweet Maui,
or as we now call him "Sneezy".
would like to thank you
for your kind words and advice on his sneezing problem.
He sems a little better during the day and last night
was almost his same mischeivous self...
but he's not eating much...
and believe me, this guy can eat...
so we are off to the vet today!
Hope your Friday is wonderful!
See you tomorrow for Pink Saturday!
Comfy & Cozy...
I did not want to get out of bed today.
Not because of the weather...
it's actually a beautiful, sunny morning.
Just because I was so comfy and cozy.
So I started looking for some pretty, shabby beds...
and this is what I found.
Have a comfy and cozy weekend...
and pop in tomorrow for pink saturday.
XOXO
