JUST BECAUSE.......It's Funny, Gorgeous, Cool, Boho, Good For You, True, Special, and Wise...........

So, what on earth is a blog post titled
JUST BECAUSE?
It's a blog post from someone whose brain is somewhat fried,
who saw a bunch of random things and thought
"Why can't I share that on my blog?"
"Why does it have to make sense?"
So here we go, JUST BECAUSE!

Just because this made me laugh:)

Just Because this may be the most GORGEOUS Cupcake ever!

Just Because I have ALWAYS loved this idea....
and when my daughter eventually goes away to school, I will do this.
A packet of letters for various occasions/moods/moments
when she may want or need a note from me.

Just Because I think these letters are so COOL and BOHO and perfect for spelling the word
"WANDER"
 (letters from Urban Outfitters)

Just Because this is something good to know and good for you!

Just Because this is another great idea.......instead of fixing all our little issues all at once, plug away at them month by month, setting NEW habits in the process!

Just Because this is so stinking cute and clever and makes me SMILE!

Just Because this is so true.

Just Because we all need a break once in awhile, right?

Just Because I MISS TUTUS and BALLET so much, especially my beautiful daughter's dancing.....and I even miss being a Dance Mom.......but the good kind:)

Just because I think this is an awesome quote and the girl could be one of my daughters.

Just Because I love horses and if I could have one, it would look like this!

Just Because it's almost Summer and therefore it's swimsuit time.......so it's time to get to work:)
Just Because I love throwing parties for kids way more than adults,
I love fussing over cute treats,
I miss these days and I can't wait to be a Grandma.  Or a GiGI.  Or a Memaw.
Or whatever the heck they want to call me......... on a regular basis.
And also Just Because I love yummy and EASY treats and this looks like
cupcakes with gumdrops, gumdrop slices and peach rings!

Just Because I LOVE my dogs and believe this with my whole heart!

Just Because I love jars, and flowers, and burlap, and lace!

Just Because I believe this!  Sometimes I need to be reminded of this.  Oftentimes.  But I always believe it.  And I hope you do too. <3 p="">

Marvelous Monday. . . . .How to Have a HAPPY week. . . .

okay, i admit it.
for most of my life, i felt that we should just sleep through Monday
and jump straight to Tuesday.
(which, when you think of it,
would just make tuesday kinda crappy, right?)

maybe it's cause i'm getting older,
and that empty nest is flying right straight at my face,
that i feel we need to embrace every day as a special day,
because memories will be made today.
and tomorrow.
some more memorable than others.
some good, some not so good.

but we can at least try to make them happy,
and try to make this a happy week, right?
so let's figure this out. . . . .

1.  if you're reading this, you're alive.
that's good news, right?
you have your vision, your intelligence, and at least one connection
to the internet world if you are reading this blog.
and you're alive, breathing, and happy about that, right?:)

so maybe try telling yourself that you can handle today,
that it is a good day, a day to be happy!

2.  regardless of last week,
today is monday, the start of a new one.
even if you had a blah weekend,
it's behind you now.
take a deep breath, say a prayer, look in the mirror,
and have at it.
you can do this.
you survived last week. . . .this week is going to be better.
i'm not a self help guru,
but it only makes sense that if we cave in to bad thoughts,
it's too easy to cave in to other things.
so think good thoughts...and smile:)
even if it gives you laugh lines!

3. we need to use what God's given us. . . . .
we all have gifts.
some more obvious than others.
but we have them.
maybe your gift is to make someone smile,
brighten a day,
maybe it's a case of using your talent for good,
caring for our family,
being a trustworthy employee,
or a reliable friend.
sharing what we have with the world is proven to be a
wonderful way to be happy in our own life.

well, it's a start,
three little suggestions that i need to be reminded of,
and thought maybe you do too.
we have a lot to offer the world,
we have gifts to share,
we have the ability to have a happy week.
let's go for it:)

here is a picture of "oh henry" (like the candy bar:),
 a blind westie dog.

i believe some wonderful family is trying to adopt him,
and i'm pretty sure there will be a lot of happy weeks with
this cute little guy:)

wishing you a very happy week!

Pixie Dust...

If it's Saturday...it must be PINK Saturday.
My favorite day of the week.
And wouldn't you know it...
I got caught up in all kinds of projects and didn't finish my pink plans for today.
So I will leave you with a few pink thoughts for your day and quickly send you on to other beautiful blogs.
But please check back next week as I am planing a pink party and my girls will be doing the pink baking on their blondes in the kitchen blog.

Before you go, please remember that on Pink Saturday, all you need is
"Faith, Trust and a little Pixie dust".
Tinkerbell

Thank you to Beverly from How Sweet the Sound for hosting another pink Saturday!

I'm grounded!!!

Yep...that's right...I'm grounded. You see, I have been sooooo BAD about visiting your blogs, answering emails and responding to the many wonderful comments I have gotten so I decided to ground myself from my own blog until I catch up with YOU!!! (Hopefully, this will happen before Pink Saturday:-) I leave you today with a thought and a pic of my adorable boys...because I know you MUST miss seeing these cuties.
Your thought for the day...

"Wag more...Bark less"

Get it? ...Wag more (be happy)...Bark less (chill out)!

Dear Dad...

...Today is Father's Day, a day to celebrate you!

As I wrote this, I thought about listing all the things I love about you but I'm saving those for your 80th birthday:-) I know I will have no problem coming up with 80 things, either! Then I thought about little moments through the years, those moments that you look back on and realize they weren't so little after all.

I was young when you were diagnosed with cancer so I really don't remember so much about the whole time. Maybe I just don't want to remember it because it was such a scary time. I do remember coming home from school and Mom was looking out her bedroom window and crying.
I also remember your quiet faith through that time and how it gave us all the courage to be strong.

I think of all the times you took me to piano lessons. (lucky you!) That 25 minute drive seemed like forever to me, a girl who wanted to be playing football with the boys in the neighborhood rather than going to piano lessons. Unfortunately, I do not play the piano well at all...but I wish I did. Also, I don't think I ever apologized for being such a brat and not speaking to you all the way there! Thank you for taking me and trying to get me to learn something I would have appreciated someday. The same goes for taking me to get my allergy shots. You must have dreaded those days because you knew how much I hated having to go...and I'm sure I wasn't exactly your sweet little girl:-)

I know you worked hard to provide for us at all times. How did you go to work so early in the morning and then work so much overtime all those years??? I don't really remember feeling as if I missed out on having anything growing up and I'm sure that's why. Having said that, I know I was a bit of a snob as a teenager, wanting and expecting the finer things in life. All along, I had the finer things in life
and today I would be so happy to ride in your brown truck:-)

You are such a wonderful grandfather.
I wonder if you know how much you are loved by all of your grandchildren.
They all recognize what a kind, loving, supportive man you are. My girls think they have the sweetest grandfather in the world and I know the others would all agree.
They know you are always there to listen and say a kind word. I wish all children could be so blessed as to have you for a grandfather.

I wish I had tried harder when you encouraged me to learn golf.

I would be playing today if I had. I think it's amazing how you stay busy and are still learning new things. You always loved to golf and to fix or build things in your workshop. Now you actually can make your own golf clubs and also play shuffleboard and even darts...and can put together even the toughest puzzle!

You could fix anything and I never appreciated having a father who was so handy but believe me, I do now!:-)

I wonder if you realize what an impression you have made on Phil. As you know, he hasn't had a father in his life since he was a young boy, so he thinks of you as the perfect father. He has often said he wonders what his life might have been like had he grown up with a father like you.

When you called to congratulate him on his hole-in-one, he was so surprised and touched. He never once in his life has had the experience of a father telling him "congratulations" or "good job". Thank you for being the father he never had.

Well, I could go on and on but I'll wrap it up with this...you are a man of faith like no other I have personally known.

You are also a man of "quiet" faith and I have a feeling it is that quality that has probably influenced more people in your life than you realize. From co-workers, to neighbors, to golf-buddies, they know there is something special inside of you and I know that someday, many of them will be waiting eagerly to greet you and thank you for being the kind of man who leads not just by words but by love and example.

Dad, This is one of my favorite quotes. I think of you every time I hear it.

"He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it." Clarence Budington Kelland

Happy Father's Day Dad...
I love you!

I Think You're Beautiful...

Last night my daughter danced in a recital at a local high school and I saw this quote painted brightly on the wall in the ladies room. I can only imagine the high school girls checking their hair and make-up between classes and seeing this. It made me smile..."You are what you think you are...I think you're beautiful!"

Thought for the day...

We tend to forget that happiness
doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have,
but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
