Royal Wedding Part 3 ... Keep Calm...

... and Carry On!
yep, that's pretty good advice for most of us...
and I'm sure that it holds true for the bride and groom...
"Keep Calm and Carry On".
i loved this saying the first time
i discovered it from Rachel Ashwell and Shabby Chic quite awhile back.
she didn't invent the saying but personally I really think she gets credit
for rejuvenating it after many years:)
or at least for introducing us in America to it.
after all, many of us first saw/read it in SHABBY pastel colors
in one of her books.

i loved it from the first,
and last summer with the whole MS thing,
it kind of became MY motto too.
we have posters,
a necklace,
notecards...

as with everything, people are going crazy and making up new ones.
sometimes i think it's getting a bit overdone, you know?
but some of the new ones are really CUTE so maybe it's all good...
"Keep Calm and Marry a Prince"
"Keep Calm and Eat a Cupcake"...
and this one...

anyway, did you ever wonder where this came from?
here is an old newspaper article explaining the story.
it originated in the UK by King George the VI,
was lost and forgotten until the 80's.

so there you have it...Keep Calm and Carry on!
and with that in mind...
here is the next giveaway!!!
a KEEP CALM gift basket...
and like before, I WILL throw in a few more goodies...
our favorite chocolate bar from London,
cute piece of jewelry and a few other surprises.
thank you all for your comments this week..
keep them coming and I'll be sure you get in the drawings!

well, our decorations are up,
every crown I've collected is out,
even my Nutcrackers are paying us a visit!

by this time tomorrow, the prince will have married his princess...
tomorrow is a simple, fun day...recipes for scones and pudding
how to talk like a Brit...
favorite British exports...
and Saturday features my all-time favorite English lady...
Rachel Ashwell.
The theme will be
"A Shabby Chic Wedding".

Cheers then!
XOXOXOXOXOX
Suzanne

  7. Hi Suzanne! It's great to hear from you. I had fun watching the royal wedding. I didn't stay up late. I did wake up around 4:30 and turned the TV on to get a glimpse of the dress. I was not disappointed! However I went back to sleep and watched the whole thing the next day.
I love the Keep Calm saying too and all the knockoffs are hilarious!
