My Name is Suzanne and I am a Homebody...

There...I said it!

The official definition of a homebody is "a person whose life and interests center on the home."
Yep...that's me!

Especially at Christmas.

Maybe because we have been so busy leading up to the Holidays.
Maybe because I just love being home with my family, regardless of the time of year.
Maybe it's because I realize how quickly the years are flying by and there will be plenty of time for dinners out and parties when we have an empty nest.
(But if you think I won't move mountains to keep my girls nearby, you don't know me at all:-)

Don't get me wrong, I love a festive Christmas party as much as the next person.
In fact, in my own humble opinion, I could throw an amazing Christmas party...and every summer I say I will.
Then the Holidays get closer, I realize we have a window of one weekend to do it...usually the one right before Christmas...and I can't do it.
I can't do that to myself because by that time I am craving peace and quiet at home.
And I can't do it to friends who want the same.
But one of these years I will...maybe next year. But I think it will be a Christmas open house late afternoon/early evening on a Sunday. Maybe that will be less stressful. People can stop in for a bit of Christmas cheer when it is the most convenient for them. Yes, I think definitely next year;-)

In the meantime, it is the Friday before Christmas and I am probably the only person out there who is sooooo happy for a few simple things.

I am happy...

~that we have nothing to do tonight or tomorrow night (We are busy on Sunday night and Tuesday so I do have a bit of a life, in case you were worried, and I think my husband has a little party at the hospital so he can be social and them come home to us homebodies:-)
So...we get to stay home tonight...Yay!!!!!
(By the way, the Nutcracker is over...I'm kind of happy/sad for that, too...and my ballerina was beautiful, thank you all for the good wishes!)

I am happy...
~that we are having a very rainy day. has been so hot down here...very un-festive! At least with clouds and rain, I can pretend we are snowed in and make a comfort food dinner. If we turn the air conditioning way down, we can wear sweaters and socks and be really happy!

I am happy...
~that I can curl up on my cozy couch with them...

...and sip hot cocoa

...and eat tons of Christmas cookies...

...and watch Christmas movies...

...with the lights of the Christmas tree twinkling in the background.

That's it!

See...I told you I am a homebody...and proud of it!
Hope you all have a very happy weekend.

  1. There is no place like home! It is true. I am a homebody too.

    Merry Christmas!

  2. I knew we had a lot in common. Count me as a fellow homebody.
The best times are family times together.
Merry happy Christmas to you and yours!

  3. That sounds like the perfect evening to me Suzanne! Enjoy it. I am so much like you and am excited that we have nothing to do tonight. I should say nowhere to go because we have lots of cleaning to do to prepare for the big shopping/wrapping extravaganza tomorrow! But then tomorrow night should be quiet and Sunday will be baking day for me!

Enjoy the cocoa and movies, and of course that beautiful Christmas tree!

    God bless my friend.

  4. Count me in. I am a homebody too. Almost too much. I totally love being in the comfort of my own home, and feel like as I get older, I like it more and more!
Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy your surroundings! I will think of you when I am SNOWED in tomorrow!

  5. your tree is gorgeous, glad you are enjoying being at home! :D

  6. Suzanne, I think you and I would get along our own little homes that is. I am such a homebody and it drives my kids nuts.
    Enjoy your holiday home!

  7. It sounds like my kind of evening. My favorite place is home too, there is usually nowhere I'd rather be. I also read back a few posts and your girls are beautiful. You must be so proud, they sound like kind, strong determined young ladies! Happy Holidays to you and yours!

  8. Well, Suzanne. You might feel like a homebody because you invite everyone into your world with such warmth that we naturally just want to come over and visit so there is no reason for you to go out. :) I think your priorities are in the perfect place with your lovely girls and hubby.

Have a wonderful Christmas and the days to follow. xoxo

  9. Following from MBC! I'd love for you to come visit me!

  10. Suzanne! I couldn't have said it better myself! I'm a homebody too and love to savor the moments that will be gone so very quickly.

I love your blog, it radiates with your warmth. =)

  11. The author of has written an excellent article. You have made your point and there is not much to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not argue with: We all think, at least once in our lives, that the clock is wrong. Thanks for the info.

So, what do ya think? Do tell...I'd love to hear it:) Be Happy...
