Okay...this is the week we have been waiting for since June...the week our vanity arrives! Look at this beauty...is she pretty or what???
Here is my problem... We bought the vanity only and I'm not sure what kind of chair or bench should go with it. I am willing to search high and low for the right one, will refinish one if needed...whatever it takes. I just don't know what would be the best style or look. Any ideas out there? Please leave a comment or email me if you have suggestions. Thanks!!!

I'm sure not the one with the answer but I do want to tell you how absolutely gorgeous that is!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is gorgeous! I am at a loss for a chair idea though, that's just not my forte'...but I know you will find the perfect one because you just do that kind of thing all the time!
ReplyDeletei'd get a low stool that fit underneath if you wanted to - then you could recover the seat occasionally!
ReplyDeleteas for albums - there are pros and cons to each. if they are all the same solid color you have to look through each to find what is in them but you have a uniform look if they are on a shelf.
patterns can tell you at a glance what is in each album b/c they are all different. but they look a bit crazy on a shelf.
i started out with patterns and still have a few but now go with solids in a few different but coordinating colors b/c i keep mine out on a shelf.
hope this helps!
I have a brown vanity in my daughter's room much like this and we have it's matching bench too. I can send a picture, if you'd like. It is a rectangle with long wooden legs and an upholstered top.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, I adore the vanity and was thinking maybe a little 3 legger stool kinda like an old piano stool covered in a Chintz fabric. At first I was thinking maybe an old ice cream chair with the wrought iron look but no because that would probably take away from the glorious look of the vanity. Whatever you choose i bet it will be just the right look. And uhh .......... if you're really stuck. Let me know and I will arrange shipping here to Louisiana giggle. Fat chance huh.
ReplyDeleteI agree, a simple stool with a fabric cushion, maybe with matching legs to the vanity. You wouldn't want it to take away from all that fancy scroll work.
ReplyDeleteI think that you should buy a bench stool and cover the top and add a ruffled side that goes to the floor. This would be a good one to cover. I like the rectangle shape too. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-SHABBY-Elegance-Floral-Fabric-Padded-VANITY-STOOL_W0QQitemZ370261773128QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5635524b48&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
ReplyDeleteIf you like round then here is a small round stool that you cover with a ruffle down to the floor. You could start with this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/Shabby-Yet-Chic-VANITY-STOOL-Ashwell-Rosalie-Fabric_W0QQitemZ400074145569QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDressers?hash=item5d2646ff21&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
By covering it you are going to compliment this amazing piece instead of trying to match it or compete with it. It's gorgeous.
That is so beautiful! I'll put on my thinking cap for this one. The first thought that came to me though was a rectangle shaped stool covered in velvet!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
WOW, This vanity is impressive to say the least, it is absolutely stunning. I know when you see something you will know that's the one. I like however the idea of what Margaret said getting a stool and adding material that will go to the floor.
ReplyDeleteHave a Great Day-
I LOVE your new vanity! Wow, how beautiful. I think you'll find the right chair or bench. Just keep looking. Of course you'll continue the country french look...
ReplyDeleteWell, I stopped by for Pink Saturday, but I see you haven't had time to post yet. Please visit me when you do. I have featured YOU today!
Happy PS
Hi! Visiting from La Chambre Rose. She mentioned you on her Pink Saturday post. I love this vanity. Until you find the perfect chair, I'd use an embroidered stool.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what type of seat to put with it, but it sure is a neato vanity! I'm following you now. Hope you can check out my blog!
ReplyDeleteI love this vanity! I agree with most of the others on using a stool, however I would cover it with a beautiful velvet that compliments the vanity.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I think a small little vanity chair would look so pretty with it.
